Aloha Jay's

Located at 1120 Main St Unit A, Hellertown, PA 18055, Aloha Jay's operates as a restaurant serving Hellertown in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as bakery, breakfast restaurant, coffee shop, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Hours are published for 4 days a week. The most common schedule is 7 am–1 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Hellertown is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Hellertown is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Being from Hawai'i, I am accustomed to Leonard's malasadas. Jay's malasadas tasted good (I tried the regular, snow cap, and custard), but were a little too donut-like for me. Don't get me wrong, they tasted good, but they weren't exactly true malasadas. But I guess they were good enough. I'm not sure I'd make the 45 min drive frequently to get them, but maybe once a year, if I were really homesick. Oh, and malasadas are a Portuguese donut, not a Hawaiian one, although I guess they were popularized in Hawai'i. In my opinion, they were good enough, but not so good as to make me want to frequent the establishment. But for those who don't know any better, yeah, they're good.

I was delighted to have a local coffee shop open on a Sunday. My latte was made fresh and it was drinkable straight away. Often, other coffee shops will make their lattes screaming hot, and you can't drink them for an hour, or you burn your mouth. The staff was polite and friendly and very informative when asking about the menu. Aloha Jay's Malasadas is a welcome addition to Hellernown and I wish them much success in the future. If you haven't been to Aloha Jay's yet, stop what you’re doing and go. Their malasadas are always incredible, but the breakfast sandwich is a game-changer for the area. The airy texture of the malasada 'bun' is light as a cloud and tastes amazing. It's the ultimate local breakfast treatβ€”definitely worth the trip!

Delicious malasadas and excellent 100% Kona coffee! We tried a variety of flavors - snowcap, raspberry cheesecake, cinnamon sugar, chocolate Bavarian and powdered sugar and enjoyed all of them. The snowcap was actually our favorite so we’re glad a regular customer recommended it. Very friendly and prompt service. Appreciated that the malasadas were warm and fresh. We will definitely be back!

The BEST donuts I have ever had! OMG - fresh and delicious. The donut itself is perfectly made and so good all by itself, and then the fillings are wonderful. I had a coconut cream, and the filling was smooth and creamy with bits of coconut - ambrosia! And the chocolate dobash was even better. And the service was the best! The owner was behind the counter, and his mom was visiting, and they were so friendly! All together a perfect experience! I don't know why there isn't a line out the door! I don't think I'll ever be able to eat another mass-produced, tasteless donut after having these.
